I thought Emma’s humored tolerance of Eadric’s ridiculousness was silly and patronizing. They are very over characterized and very one dimensional. Characters (2/5): The characters were okay I guess. Instead Emma herself is turned into a frog and her and the frog (Eadric) now both have to figure out how to be turned human again. The premise of the story is that Princess Emma wants to get out of marrying Prince Jorge so she kisses a frog in the swamp who says he’s a prince. It's not a bad story, I just didn't find it all that interesting. The plot is very basic and it is written at a low reading level and predictable. It's a typical fairy tale with a bit of a twist. Story (3/5): This is a very simple story intended for a younger audience, I did not enjoy it much, it was just too simple for me. The narrator was easy to listen to and did character voices well. Audiobook Quality (4/5): The audiobook was decently done, no complaints. I borrowed this audiobook through Audible Escapes. Series Info/Source: This is the first book in the Tales of the Frog Princess series. I do NOT recommend this audiobook to ANYONE with ears of any kind. But the reader sounds like a 40 year old woman who took elocution classes and failed out. I have never even heard an unscripted BREATH from any recorded reader before, but this one? I am pretty sure I can hear spit strings *wretch* ! The second strike that I cannot forgive is that the book is written in first person from the perspective of a 14 year old girl. It’s soooo off-putting, to say the very least. This is the first time EVER in all my years of listening to audiobooks that I could not tolerate the recorded reader! First and foremost I CAN HEAR ALL OF HER MOUTHSOUNDS. So I was attempting to keep pace with him by listening to the audio book. But he has more time on his 12 year old school boy hands than I do.

I am reading the series along with my middle-school aged nephew. This is my first review and I’m sorry it will be such a negative one, but I assure you, it is warranted. Great Story, can’t listen to this reader!
